My Story
“Are you also taking photographs?” He asked me after the presentation.
That evening in 2014 was the first time I met Hugo Jaeggi. I attended his presentation because my aunt wanted me to see his images. After the presentation I was so impressed by his photographs and surprised at his question.
He invited me to his place to show him my work. Just by speaking to him he taught me a lot about photography. He was a mentor for me.
A few years later I showed a photography professor Hugo Jaeggi’s monograph and shortly after we decided to make a documentary about Hugo Jaeggi.
Sadly Hugo Jaeggi passed away in 2018.
In November 2019 the movie had its official premiere in Basel and was also shown on national Swiss TV.

Director’s Statement

Hugo Jaeggi’ photographs largely withdraw from a comparative evaluation. Distinctive are his dreams of visual force. They allow a glimpse of the psyche that experiences the family relations and the chasms his existence and endures them over and over again.
The documentary captures the artist’s authentic descriptions concerning a considerable number of pictures. It provides an insight into their development and interviews some of the photographer’s companions.
